Hypernova Chronos named Best Medical Device at prestigious Prix Galien Awards

Hypernova Chronos wins the ‘Nobel Prize ’equivalent in biopharmaceutical research.

December 2020, MediSound Australia’s Hypernova Chronos has won the Best Medical Device at the 2020 Prix Galien awards. 

The Prestigious Prix Galien Foundation recognises excellence in scientific innovation that improves the global human condition. It is awarded in 4 categories, Pharmaceuticals, Biotechnology, Medical Technology and Digital Health.

Ultrasound is one of the most used technologies in medical diagnosis, but current disinfection methods are costly, inefficient and cause unnecessary chemical load to patients and technicians. There is also a growing body of research linking ultrasound disinfection methods to hospital-acquired infections.

The Hypernova Chronos is a breakthrough patent technology that replaces chemicals with germicidal UV-C light and is the only chemical-free high-level disinfection system for ultrasound probes available on the Australian market.

Chronos units have been designed for demanding, high turnover healthcare environments.

The technology minimises cross-infection and units are mobile with in-built electronic records management making them ideal for a point of care for ultrasound services.

Chronos is brought to the Australian market by MediSound and is compatible with more than 1000 probe models from all leading manufacturers, with new models being added every month.
